CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Three Kohawks earned a spot on the D3football.com All-West Region teams. Coe had two offensive selections on the second team and a defensive selection on the third team.
Junior quarterback
Brad Boyle (New Sharon, Iowa/North Mahaska) and sophomore running back
Brendan Leiran (Waukon, Iowa/Waukon) were selected to the second team. Senior defensive end
Nate Clear (Dallas, Texas/Bishop Lynch) was a third team selection. With three selections, Coe has now had multiple selections to the D3football.com All-West Region team for six-straight years, as the selections have only been around for six seasons.
Boyle and Leiran are the first Kohawks to be named to the team from their positions, while Clear is the fourth different Kohawk defensive end to be named. In all, Coe has had 16 players named to the D3football.com team in the last six years.
En route to earning his second-straight Iowa Conference MVP award, Boyle threw for 2,972 yards and 24 touchdowns, completing 63.4 percent of his passes. His passing yardage and completion percentage were new single-season school records, while his 24 touchdowns was second most in school history. He threw for 300-plus yards only twice this season, including a season-high 342 at Luther, but nearly hit the mark twice more against Olivet Nazarene (299) and Iowa Wesleyan (296). He also threw at least one touchdown pass in each game and passed for three scores five times. He led the IIAC in passing (270.4 ypg), pass efficiency (175.4), total offense (290.5 ypg), and scoring (102 points). Whether through the air or on the ground, Boyle accounted for at least three touchdowns in each game, maxing out at five on four occasions (Luther, Central, Simpson, and Loras).
Leiran was a First Team All-Iowa Conference selection as well. Leiran rushed for 1,225 yards, the eighth most in school history, on 209 carries. Clear was also a First Team All-Iowa Conference selection. Clear had 15.5 tackles for loss and nine sacks this season. His tackles for loss total was the sixth most in school history, while his sacks tally was second behind Frank Weymiller's 15.5 last season.
