INDIANOLA, Iowa - The fifth-ranked Coe wrestling team went 2-1 at the Iowa Conference Duals Saturday.  Coe beat 25th-ranked Dubuque 36-9 and Simpson 43-0, but fell to top-ranked Wartburg 32-6.
Top-ranked senior Clayton Rush (Aledo, Ill./Aledo) opened the dual with Dubuque with a technical fall over Andre Taylor (20-5).  Sophomore Drew Hinschberger (Belle Plaine, Iowa/Belle Plaine) gave the Kohawks a 9-0 win with a 11-0 major decision at 133 pounds over Chris Sokol.

Coe earned its first fall of the day at 141 pounds, as sophomore Chris LeClere (Coggon, Iowa/North-Linn) pinned Ben Schneider in 1:15.  Ninth-ranked junior James Locke (Minneapolis, Minn./South) added another pin at 149 pounds, as he beat Derek Mizau in 1:36.

The Kohawks suffered back-to-back losses at 157 and 165 pounds, as second-ranked junior Nick LeClere (Coggon, Iowa/North-Linn) lost a tough 9-5 decision to third-ranked Josh Terrell at 165 pounds.

Coe added a third fall at 174 pounds, as sophomore Scott King (Tipton, Iowa/Tipton) pinned Derick Minch in 5:32.  Senior Seth Rehn (Oceanside, Calif./Vista) escaped with a 2-0 win at 184 pounds over Logan Einerson.  The Kohawks closed the meet with a fourth fall, as fifth-ranked Alex Burkle (Coggon, Iowa/North-Linn) pinned Tyler Hoemer in 4:20.

In the loss to Wartburg, Rush opened with a 6-2 win over third-ranked Mark Kist at 125 pounds.  Trailing 16-3, Nick LeClere came back for a 7-5 win over Adam Weber, but Coe couldn't notch another win, as six of Wartburg's eight wins came from wrestlers ranked in the top ten in the nation.

Coe bounced back with a big win of the Storm.  Rush earned a forfeit at 125 pounds to start the match.  Hinschberger gave Coe a 10-0 lead with a 13-0 major decision over Jordan Howell.  The Kohawks then earned three-straight major decisions to put the meet away with Chris LeClere, James Locke and freshman Dimitri Boyer (Eddyville, Iowa/Eddyville-Blakesburg) notching wins by a combined 39-5.

A decision by Nick LeClere (8-6) over Justin Bruce gave Coe a 25-0 lead.  King added an 11-0 major decision over Taylor Witzell at 174 pounds before Rehn beat Zach Edler by technical fall (17-0) at 184 pounds.  Freshman Ethan Ball (Aledo, Ill./Mercer County) was a 7-4 winner over Jared Bevins at 197 pounds before Burkle won by forfeit at heavyweight.
