STEVENS POINT, Wis. - Coe's 4x400 team broke the school record and automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships Saturday at the Wisconsin-Stevens Point Last Chance Meet. It is the second automatic qualifier for the Kohawks.
In the 55-meter hurdles,
Alisa Denny (Runnells, Iowa/PCM) finished seventh in a time of 8.64. For the men, sophomore
Jared Kuehner (Center Point, Iowa/Center Point-Urbana) was sixth in 7.85, cutting .04 off his preliminary time.
Coe's
Kelli Springer (Cumming, Iowa/Norwalk) was 10th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.26. The Kohawks had a top-four finish in the men's mile, as senior
Kyle Heineman (Readlyn, Iowa/Wapsie Valley) was fourth in 4:22.48.
The school record was broken in the 4x400, as
Sara Heizer (Milliken, Colo./Roosevelt),
Stefani Wright (Chicago, Ill./St. Ignatius), Springer and junior
Keelie Finnel (Francis Creek, Wis./Mischicot) finished first in 3:53.11 and automatically qualifying for nationals with the seventh best time in the nation.
In the high jump, Kuehner finished sixth with a height of 6'4 3/4".
