CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - After taking a 2-1 lead after doubles play, the Kohawk men's tennis team won all six singles matches, as they beat Augustana 8-1 Saturday at the Clark Racquet Center.
At number one doubles, seniors
Elliot Rausa (Waterloo, Iowa/Columbus) and
Scott Stegemann (Davenport, Iowa/Central) beat Adam DeSimone and Andy Wall 8-3. Rausa was then a 6-1, 6-1 winner over Kyle Doyle at number two singles, while Stegemann beat Nik Lehnert 6-2, 7-5 at number three singles.
Coe's second doubles win came at number three, as
Sean Stokstad (Ramstein, Germany/Ramstein) and
Victor Khristenko (Orel, Russia) beat Jack Cullen and Colin Arnold 8-6. Khristenko also beat DeSimone 6-7, 6-4, 7-5 at number one singles.
At number four singles,
Jonathan Roger (Minneapolis, Minn./St. Anthony Village) beat Wall 7-6, 2-6, 6-2.
Curtis Newman (Ankeny, Iowa/Ankeny) beat Cullin 6-1, 6-1 at number five singles, while
Jeff Damisch (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Kennedy) beat Arnold 4-6, 6-2, 10-7 at number six singles.
The Kohawks improved to 14-1 on the year and 9-0 at the Clark Racquet Center. Coe will return to action next Friday and Saturday, as they travel to Crawfordsville, Ind. for the Kerry Seward Invitational.
