PELLA, Iowa - The Coe men's and women's track and field teams placed fourth at the Central Invitational on Saturday.  Eight Kohawks finished first in their events, while 10 others had top five finishes.
The Kohawks opened things up in the 200-meter dash, as junior Keelie Finnel (Francis Creek, Wis./Mischicot) was second in :25.89.  Kelli Springer added a top-five finish in the event, as she was fifth in :26.36.  Finnel was also second in the 400-meter dash, finishing in :57.44, while Springer joined her in the top five again, placing fifth in 1:01.55.

Coe's first champion came in the 100-meter hurdles, as senior Alisia Denny (Runnells, Iowa/PCM) ran a :15.91.  In the 400-meter hurdles, Sara Heizer (Milliken, Colo./Roosevelt) was fourth in 1:04.55.  Stefani Wright (Chicago, Ill./St. Ignatius), Finnel, Heizer and freshman Hannah Breitbach (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Xavier) combined to win the 4x100-meter relay in :48.90.  In the 4x400-meter relay, Heizer, Springer, Wright and Finnel were second in 3:59.46. 

The field events saw Cassandra Morigaki (Hilo, Hawaii/Waiakea) finish fourth in the high jump with a height of 1.55 meters.  Coe's first field champion was Kirsten Franklin in the triple jump, as she had a distance of 9.87 meters. 

On the men's side, senior Ryan Schroeder (Byron, Ill./Byron) won the 5,000-meter run in 15:01.18, beating the second place finisher by six seconds.  Kyle Heineman (Readlyn, Iowa/Wapsie Valley) and Andrew Dewar (Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest) joined Schroeder in the top five with fourth and fifth place finishes.  Heineman ran a 15:17.94, while Dewar finished in 15:19.68.

Sophomore Jared Kuehener (Center Point, Iowa/Center Point-Urbana) won the 110-meter high hurdles in 15.79.  He also won the high jump at 1.98 meters.  In the pole vault, Dan Flores won at 3.30 meters, while Charles Dewar (Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest) was second at 3.05 meters.  In the hammer throw, Andrew Meyer was fifth with a throw of 50.03 meters.
