CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - After winning it's first Iowa Conference Tournament Sunday, the Kohawks were announced as the top seed for the NCAA Central Regional today. This will be the fourth appearance in the NCAA Regionals for Coe and first since 2006.
The Kohawks won the Iowa Conference regular season title with an 18-6 record. This past weekend, they went 3-0 at Veterans Memorial Stadium to win the Iowa Conference Tournament for the first time. Coe beat Simpson 19-8 (8 Innings) before taking two one-run games from Wartburg to end the tournament. The Kohawks have won their last 12 games and enter the tournament with a 32-10 record, the most wins in school history.
Coe's opening round opponent is Ripon, champions of the Midwest Conference. Coe and Ripon have met six previous times, with the Red Hawks winning all six meetings. The Kohawks are 3-6 all-time in the NCAA Tournament.
The Kohawks and Red Hawks will play at noon Wednesday in the first game of the tournament. The winner will play at 3:30 p.m. Thursday and the loser will play at 12 p.m. Thursday in the double-elimination tournament. All games will be played at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Illinois.
