Abby Flannagan (Manchester, Iowa/West Delaware) became the 11th Kohawk in school history to earn All-American honors this week. Flannagan was named to the NFCA All-American Second Team.
Flannagan was one of six players from the Iowa Conference to be named an All-American. Already this season, Flannagan was an All-Iowa Conference First Team selection and named the leagues position player of the year. She was also an NFCA First Team All-Midwest Region selection.
She hit .467 on the year, the third best average in school history. During league play, she broke an 18-year old league record by hitting .644. She became just the second player in school history with 70 hits, while breaking Coe's single-season record for home runs with 17. She broke the single-season runs batted in record with 55 and had the third most runs scored in school history at 49. She was also walked 21 times, the third most in school history. She also joined 11 other Kohawks to go an entire season without an error with at least 30 chances.
Flannagan ranked 13th in the country with .35 home runs per game and was 35th with her .467 batting average. With a slugging percentage of .907, she ranked 10th in the country. Her 17 home runs were fourth in the nation.
