
The Rams used a 43-point second half to come away with an 81-56 win over Coe.
Neither team could take a lead over five in the first 16:56 of the game, but a 15-1 run by the Rams pushed the lead to nine points. The Kohawks cut the lead to six with 17:03 to play in the game, but couldn't come any closer the rest of the way. With 5:26 to play, Cornell went on a 12-0 run to extend the lead to 29, its largest of the game. Junior Phil Diamitani (Iowa City, Iowa/West) scored the final four points of the game for the Kohawks.
Diamitani and sophomore Dan Borngraeber (Brookfield, Wis./East) each had a team-high 10 points. Senior Kevin Dux (Boulder, Colo./Fairview) added nine points on three 3-point baskets. Dux also had a team-high six rebounds. Freshman Kevin Gaster (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Jefferson) added a team-high three assists, while senior Christian Parent (Littleton, Colo./Littleton) addd a game-high two steals.
As a team, the Rams shot 52 percent from the field, while holding the Kohawks to 35 percent shooting. Cornell capitalized on 18 Coe turnovers with 26 points off turnovers, compared to the 11 for Coe.
Coe returns to action two more times this week. They travel to Dubuque Wednesday for an 8 p.m. game with the Spartans before hosting Central Saturday at 4 p.m.
