
Host Hawaii Pacific used a 13-5 run late in the game to beat Coe 79-72 Sunday afternoon.
Trailing by one with 14:19 to play in the first period, Coe went on a 12-4 run to take a 23-16 lead, its largest of the game. Hawaii Pacific didn't let the Kohawks hold the lead for long, as they finished the first half on a 17-6 run. Senior Kevin Dux (Boulder, Colo./Fairview) hit a jumper with 1:06 left in the opening half to cut the lead to four at the break.
Coe scored the the first five points of the second half, then Hawaii Pacific took the game over. The Sea Warriors then went on a 9-0 run, regaining the lead for the final time. The Kohawks were able to cut the lead to three middway through the second half and used a 10-3 run in the last five minutes of the game to cut the lead to five, but Hawaii Pacific hit five free throws in the final minute of the game to seal the win.
Freshman Kevin Gaster (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Jefferson) and Dux joined Tatman in double-figures. Gaster dropped in 13 points, while Dux contributed 11. It was the fourth-straight game in double-figures for Dux, while Gaster's 13 points was a career-high. Dux also had a season-high six assists. Senior Marc Gorenstein (Longmont, Colo./Silver Creek) had a season-high 11 rebounds in just 15 minutes of action.
Coe will play one more game during the 2008 portion of their schedule, as they face eighth-ranked Augustana Dec. 30.
