
The game was played at Chaminade University in Hawaii. Dux had previously set a career-high Sunday against Webster, when he had 16 points.
Coe jumped to an early lead in their first off the mainland. Dux scored five points in the first 1:31 of the game, as Coe raced to a 7-0 lead. Illinois College took their its first lead of the game with 14:17 to play in the first half, part of an 11-2 run. The Kohawks put the run behind them, as they regained the lead 13-3 run, with all points coming from Dux, junior Cass Behrens (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Mountain Vista) and sophomore Alex Tatman (Humboldt, Iowa/Humboldt). Coe was able to hold onto the lead from that point on.
The Kohawks increased their lead to 17 with 4:58 to play in the first half, as Dux scored eight points and sophomore Joe Parys (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge) added three on an 11-0 Kohawk run. Illinois College was able to cut the lead down to 12 at halftime.
Illinois College cut the Coe lead to nine twice early in the second half, but Coe didn't never let the lead slip under 10 points for the final 17:12 of the game.
Tatman and sophomore Dan Borngraeber (Brookfield, Wis./East) joined Dux in double-figures with 18 and 12 points respectively. Dux also added four rebounds and four assists. Behrens and freshman Kevin Gaster (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Jefferson) led the Kohawks with five assists apiece. Senior Marc Gorenstein (Longmont, Colo./Silver Creek) had a game-high seven rebounds.
Coe will play one more game in Hawaii on Sunday. The Kohawks will face Hawaii Pacific at 4:30 p.m. Central Standard Time.
