CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - All it took was one goal and a tough defensive effort for the Kohawks to improve to 2-1 on the year. Coe scored in the 39th minute to take a 1-0 win from the Blueboys of Illinois College.
Senior
David Schmitz (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Kennedy) took a pass from senior
Eddie Knebel (Iowa City, Iowa/City) for the only goal of the game at 38:39. As a team, the Kohawks outshot Illinois College 25-6, including a 14-2 advantage in the first half.
Junior
Charles Cotton (Southfield, Mich./Southfield) earned his first career win in the net, saving two shots in 90 minutes. The Kohawks got shots from 12 different players in the match.
Coe will return to action on Thursday, as they host Monmouth. The match is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. at Clark Field.
