CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - A 20-2 run by the Loras Duhawks put the game out of reach of Coe Wednesday, as they dropped their Iowa Conference opener. It was the seventh-straight loss to the Duhawks for Coe.

The Duhawks opened the game with a 12-5 lead 6:15 into the game, while increasing that lead to 11 with 4:33 to play in the opening half.

The Kohawks put themselves back in the game late in the first half and into the second half. Trailing by 11, Coe went on a 14-5 run to close the first half and open the first 4:10 of the second half. Loras hit only one field goal attempt in the first 4:10 of the second half. From then on, it was all Loras. The Duhawks went on a 20-2 run over the next 6:48 to put the game away. Coe was able to cut away at the Loras lead over the last 5:29, as they went on an 18-5 run, but it was too little too late for Coe.

Sophomore Alex Tatman (Humboldt, Iowa/Humboldt) led Coe with 14 points. Fellow sophomore Mike Vought (Humboldt, Iowa/Humboldt) also scored in double-figures with 10 points, while having a team-high six rebounds. Sophomore guard Caleb Luckow (Webster City, Iowa/Webster City) had a team-high three assists.

Senior Kevin Dux (Boulder, Colo./Fairview) added five rebounds and two assists. Brian Centella from Loras had a game-high 26 points of 10 of 15 shooting, including 4-for-5 from 3-point range.

Loras shot 42.2 percent from the field, while holding the Kohawks to 32.7 percent. Neither team shot over 66 percent from the free throw line. Coe struggled from 3-point range in the second half, connecting on just one of nine attempts. The Duhawks outscored Coe 34-18 in the paint.

Coe returns to action on Saturday as they travel defending Iowa Conference Champion Buena Vista. Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. in Storm Lake.
