
The Kohawks used a 15-4 run in the first half to open up an 11 point lead, but Maryville continued to stay into the game, answering with a 9-2 run of its own. Coe owned the last few minutes of the first half and early into the second half, as they increased its lead to 14 with a 10-0 run. Maryville took over the game from that point, as they used a 13-0 run to cut the lead to one.
Coe led 46-44 with 10:06 to play before the Saints put the game away on a 24-6 over the next 8:22.
Senior Kevin Dux (Boulder, Colo./Fairview) led the Kohawks with 11 points and two assists. Sophomores Alex Tatman (Humboldt, Iowa/Humboldt) and Dan Borngraeber (Brookfield, Wis./East) also added 10 points for Coe. Junior Cass Behrens (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Mountain Vista) led Coe with eight rebounds.
Aaron Steinke had a game-high 20 points off the bench for the Saints.
As a team, the Saints hit 61.3 percent from the free throw line, compared to the 39 percent for the Kohawks. Coe was a perfect 3-for-3 in the first half, but struggled in the second half, hitting on just two of 10 attempts.
