CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe women's swimming and diving team picked up its first win of the year Friday night, as they cruised by Iowa Central 130-31. The men fell to the Tritons 122-49. Many individuals picked up wins for the Kohawks on both sides. 

Ben Potts (Pleasant Hill, Iowa/Southeast Polk) took home first place honors with a time of 11:19.31 in the 1,000-yard freestyle. Two events later, Peter Curran (Afton, Minn./St. Thomas Academy) took top honors in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:55.43. In the women's 50-yard freestyle, Anya Gersib (Houston, Texas/Intl School of Beijing) earned first place with a time of 27.22. Amanda Ickes (Marion, Iowa/Xavier) finished third in a time of 27.70.

Curran also finished first in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 57.97, winning by nearly four seconds. Ainslee Barnes (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Linn-Mar) and Shannon Wiegard (West Burlington, Iowa/Burlington) brought home first and second place in the 100-yard freestyle. Potts also won the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:31.30. Ickes brought home the final women's individual event for the Kohawks with a win in the 100-yard breaststroke. Her time of 1:19.73 beat out teammate Rachel Robbins (Centennial, Colo./Arapahoe) for first place.

The Kohawks return to action Dec. 5-6 as they travel to the Augustana Invitational.
