
FRANKLIN, Ind. - The Coe College women's swimming and diving team improved to 3-0 with a 118-95 win over Franklin Saturday. Five different Kohawks on the men's and women's teams posted season best times.
The Kohawk women earned a win in the 200-yard medley relay to start the meet. Coe's team of Shannon Loria (Palatine, Ill./William Fremd), Amanda Ickes (Marion, Iowa/Xavier), Darci Schultz (Naperville, Ill./MacArthur) and Megan Kroll (Woodbury, Minn./Stillwater) finished in 2:05.62. Coe also had a team place third, as Haley Otis (Des Moines, Iowa/Dowling), Nichole Lattin (Monroe, Wis./Monroe), Kelly Strohm (Cherry Hills Village, Colo./Regis Jesuit) and Chloe Drapes (Shorewood, Wis./Shorewood) finished in 2:21.38.
Kenni Sterns (Longmont, Colo./Silver Creek) won the 1,000-yard freestyle in 11:43.87, finishing nearly 12 seconds ahead of the second place finisher. Mickey Meyer (Dubuque, Iowa/Hempstead) was third in 13:20.53, while Rebekah Isack (Mokena, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) was fourth in 13:57.67. On the men's side, Zachary Ahles (Andover, Minn./Andover) was third in 12:53.58.
Erica Czajka (Denver, Colo./George Washington) finished third in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:14.94, while Lindsay Meade (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Kennedy) was fourth in 2:15.95. Otis placed fifth in 2:25.33. Colin Conway (Wauwatosa, Wis./Milwaukee Lutheran) was third for the Kohawk men in 2:21.57. In the 50-yard freestyle, Ariana Uding (Chicago, Ill./Whitney M. Young) won in 26.73, while Schultz was third in 28.69.
Loria and Lattin placed third and fourth in the 200-yard IM, as Loria finished in 2:37.90 and Lattin timed in at 2:39.96. On the men's side, Aaron Buseman (Niwot, Colo./Niwot) was third in 2:31.87. Coe swept the one-meter diving, as Elizabeth Curley (Omaha, Neb./Millard West) won on the women's side with a score of 115.60 and Ken Otton won the men's with a score of 97.20.
Sterns was second in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:07.32, while Kroll was fourth in 1:15.05. Uding recorded a season best in the 100-yard freestyle, winning in 58.43, while Czajka was second in 59.25. On the men's side, Ahles also posted a season best in 1:00.50, placing fourth, while Martin Benoit-Xavier Guilloume (Phalenpin, France/Deforest de Leuarde) was fifth in 1:05.89.
Otis placed second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:16.49, while Lattin was fourth in 1:24.17. On the men's side, Buseman posted a season best 1:10.74, placing third. Andi Queisner (Fort Madison, Iowa/Fort Madison) was third in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:09.99, while Meyer placed fourth in 6:22.73.
Ickes turned in a season best in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing second with a time of 1:15.77, with Queisner placing third in 1:20.43. Conway also turned in a season best on the men's side, placing third in 1:20.62.
Coe's 400-yard freestyle relay team of Czajka, Uding, Queisner and Sterns won in 4:04.61, while the team of Schultz, Meade, Meyer and Isack was second in 4:23.03. The Kohawk men's team was second in 4:10.82, with that team consisting of Ahles, Buseman, Conway and Guilloume.
The Kohawks return to action on Dec. 30, as they participate in the Venice Invite in Venice, Fla.
