CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The Coe wrestling team improved to 10-1 on the year in dual meets with wins over 13th-ranked Concordia-Moorhead and fifth-ranked Wisconsin-La Crosse.

The fourth-ranked Kohawks will face top-ranked Wartburg at 11 a.m. Sunday in the semifinals of the NWCA National Duals, being held at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls.

The Kohawks opened the tournament with bonus point wins in their first two matches. Sophomore Clayton Rush (Aledo, Ill./Aledo) earned a major decision and sophomore Brandon Ball (Columbus Junctions, Iowa/Columbus Junction) won by fall, putting the Kohawks in front 10-0 to start. Concordia fired off three-straight wins to cut the lead to one, but major decision wins by junior Tyler Burkle (Coggon, Iowa/North-Linn) and sophomore Seth Rehn (Oceanside, Calif./Vista) put the Kohawks ahead for good.

Coe once again used wins at the lower weights to get an early lead, this time Rush, Ball and freshman Johny Siegel (New London, Iowa/New London) took home victories. Rush earned a major decision and Ball won by technical fall. Coe also received bonus point wins by Bryon Grothus (Davenport, Iowa/Assumption) and Burkle at 157 and 165 pounds. Rehn joined Rob Kramer (Swisher, Iowa/Prairie) and Mitch Sander (Clarence, Iowa/North Cedar) in earning wins over nationally-ranked opponents in three of the final four matches.

The winner of the Coe-Wartburg match will face the winner of the Delaware Valley-Augsburg match at 3 p.m. The two losers will face each other in the third-place match at 1 p.m. Augsburg and Delaware Valley are ranked second and third in the nation.
