
GRINNELL, Iowa - The Coe College swimming and diving teams turned in some of their best times of the season and careers Friday on the first day of the Grinnell Invite. The Kohawks also got a top-three all-time score on the diving boards.
Coe's first points came in the 200-yard freestyle relay, as Erica Czajka (Denver, Colo./George Washington), Amanda Ickes (Marion, Iowa/Xavier), Kenni Sterns (Longmont, Colo./Silver Creek) and Andi Queisner (Fort Madison, Iowa/Fort Madison) were 13th in 1:46.59. In the 200-yard IM, Sterns finished 20th in 2:23.98 after swimming a 2:22.67 in the prelims. Queisner finished 16th in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:44.06, a season best for any Kohawk.
Czajka turned in a 57.78 in the 100-yard freestyle, finishing 21st with the best time by any Coe swimmer this year. On the one-meter diving board, junior Rebecca Herman (Iowa City, Iowa/West) was fourth with a score of 372.50. Her score was the third best score in school history. Elizabeth Curley (Omaha, Neb./Millard West) placed 10th with a score of 318.10, the seventh best score in school history.
On the men's side, Ken Otton (Mesa, Ariz./Skyline) was third on the three-meter diving board with a score of 250.25.
