CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The Coe wrestling team dropped to 10-2 on the year in dual meets, but enjoyed a fourth-place finish at the NWCA National Duals on Sunday. The fourth-place finish marked the third-straight year the Kohawks have placed, as they finished seventh in both 2007 and 2008.

Coe fell to top-ranked Wartburg 33-9 in the semifinals before dropping a 22-15 decision to third-ranked Delaware Valley.

The lower weights continued to dominate for the Kohawks to start the day on Sunday. Third-ranked sophomore Clayton Rush (Aledo, Ill./Aledo) beat seventh-ranked Mark Kist 6-4 to open the match. The Kohawks then earned one of their biggest wins of the day at 133 pounds. Sophomore Brandon Ball (Columbus Junction, Iowa/Columbus Junction) earned a 7-6 decision over second-ranked Matt Kelly. The Kohawks struggled the next two matches, as they faced the top-ranked wrestlers at 141 and 149 pounds. The Knights came away with bonus point wins to put them in the lead for good. Rob Kramer (Swisher, Iowa/Prairie) earned the Kohawks final win of the match at 197 pounds, as he beat Byron tate 9-7.

In the third place match against Delaware Valley, Rush again kicked things off with a 12-7 win over fifth-ranked Chris Sneetz. Freshman Johny Siegel (New London, Iowa/New London) earned a 6-4 decision over ninth-ranked Eric McCAnn at 141 ponds to tie the match at six points apiece. The Kohawks took their final lead of the match with back-to-back victories at 157 and 165 pounds. Junior Tyler Baker (Byon, Ill./Stillman Valley) beat Robbie Hickman 7-2 at 157 pounds before second-ranked Tyler Burkle (Coggon, Iowa/North-Linn) beat Justin Barowski 4-0 at 165 pounds. Kramer earned the final victory of the day for the Kohawks at 197 pounds, as he beat Martin Porter 4-2.

The Kohawks return to action on Friday as they travel to Loras for their third IIAC match of the season.
