INDIANOLA, Iowa - Sophomore Clayton Rush (Aledo, Ill./Aledo) and junior Mitch Sander (Clarence, Iowa/North Cedar) took home top honors at Saturday's Simpson College Invitational.

The two first place finishes helped the Kohawks to a second place finish as a team, falling just five points behind champion Wartburg, the defending NCAA Division III National Champions.

Rush continued his undefeated season with a 4-0 record, including two major decisions and a fall. Coming in as the number two seed, Rush defeated top-seeded Tyler Mumbulo of Upper Iowa in the finals by major decision. Mumbulo was ranked fourth in the latest NCAA Division II rankings.

Sander went 5-0 with one fall en route to his first place finish. Seeded second to begin the tournament, his one fall came in the finals against fifth-seeded Mike Wakim of Missouri Baptist.

Juniors Mark Carey (Raytown, Mo./Raytown South), Tyler Burkle (Coggon, Iowa/North-Linn) and Rob Kramer (Swisher, Iowa/Prairie) all took second place honors for the Kohawks.

The Kohawks will return to action on Saturday as they travel to Wartburg for the Dick Walker Invite.
