
Burkle won five matches to take first place honors in the 165 pound weight class. He went 36-0 last year en route to a national championship. Burkle is currently ranked number one in the nation.
Juniors Rob Kramer (Swisher, Iowa/Prairie) and Mitch Sander (Clarence, Iowa/North Cedar) both finished third at 197 pounds and heavyweight respectively. They both went 5-1 on the day. Kramer is currently ranked second in the nation.
Fellow juniors Tyler Baker (Byon, Ill./Stillman Valley) and Jared Carder (Williamsburg, Iowa/Williamsburg) both placed fourth. Baker finished 6-2 at 149 pounds, while Carder was 3-2 at heavyweight.
No team scores were kept at the meet.
The Kohawks return to action Nov. 19, as they open Iowa Conference play with a dual at Central. The meet is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. in Pella.
