
While at Fredericksburg, Staker also served as head baseball coach for 31 years, head boys' track coach for 28 years and assistant boys' basketball coach for 36 years. He served as the high school and middle school athletics director at Fredericksburg for 31 years. His football team won a state championship in 2001, while his track and field team won the state title in 1992. During a 15-year span, his team won six district titles. He was named to the Iowa Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1994 and was the Class A Coach of the Year in 2001. In 2003, he was the head coach for the Iowa Shrine Bowl.
Staker's son, Tyler, has served as a graduate assistant for the Kohawks the past two seasons and is now the offensive coordinator for Coe. Tyler is the last of five Staker children to attend the college. Steve's daughter, Shannon Cook, and daughter-in-law, Julie Staker, also work for the Coe Admission Office, while his son-in-law, Steve Cook, is the school's head baseball coach.




Former Kohawk All-American Jim Dostal begins his second season as defensive line coach and special teams coordinator. Dostal, who played on the 1986 Kohawk team that made the NCAA Playoffs, was named a Third-Team All-American in his senior season. He helped the Kohawks to an 18-2-1 record in his two years at Coe and was an All-Midwest Conference selection both seasons. A highly successful high school coach, Dostal took his alma mater, Cedar Rapids Jefferson, on its deepest playoff run in over 20 years. Jim, who currently teaches at Jefferson, and wife Amber reside in Cedar Rapids.


Legree, a 2005 graduate of Cornell College, will begin his third year on the staff. He was a four-year letterwinner for the Rams in both football and baseball. Legree played a key role in the Ram offense as he led the team in rushing yards his junior and senior years, as well as leading the team in rushing touchdowns during his final three seasons with the Rams.

After serving as Coe's linebackers coach for five years (1990-94), coach Walker returned to his alma mater in 2004. Walker served as Defensive Coordinator for Cedar Rapids Washington from 1995-1999. A 1988 graduate of Coe, Walker was a four-year starting defensive lineman, earning All-Midwest Conference honors three times. He was a member of Coe's first-ever playoff team in 1986. Walker was a graduate assistant coach at the University of South Dakota, where he earned his master's in education with an emphasis in Sports Psychology. He and his wife, Carolin, have two sons, Jackson and Lucas.



Snider begins his first season with the Kohawks. Prior to joining the Coe staff, he coached football for six years at Cedar Rapids Prairie. He is a 1998 graduate of the University of Iowa and currently teaches math at Cedar Rapids Prairie High School.
