
Before coming to Coe, Mourer was a successful distance runner at Allegheny College. Between cross country and track he was a member of 12 conference championship teams and was an individual all-conference selection 11 times.
On the national scene, Mourer competed in two NCAA DIII
Cross
Country Championships, helping lead his team to top ten finishes both
times,
including a third place finish in 2006. On the track, he competed in the
5k at the 2007 NCAA Outdoor National Championships.

Michael Warta joined the Coe staff in 2007. Warta is in charge of both the men's and women's track and field teams for the Kohawks. In just his first season, the Kohawks sent members of the track and field teams to both the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor National Championships.
Warta came to Coe after spending the previous three years as head track and field coach at Clarke College in Dubuque. He also served as head cross country coach and director of strength and conditioning during his time at Clarke. Warta previously had stints at Lynchburg College and Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
Warta has coached 12 individual NCAA Division III All-Americans and five All-American relay teams. As an athlete himself, he qualified for six NCAA Division III Championships and was a four-time All-American.

Kochmit joined the Kohawk coaching staff in 2009. Before
coming to Coe, Kochmit was a successful two-sport athlete at Carthage
College. On the football field, Kochmit started four years on the
offensive line, while he earned multiple all-conference awards in track.
During the 2009 outdoor track season, Kochmit took ninth
place at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. He also earned
Scholar All-American honors from the United States Track and
Field/Cross Country Coaches Association.
Kochmit holds a BA in Criminal Justice and Sociology, while
minoring in Psychology from Carthage College. He
will be working toward a Masters Degree at Coe.

Coach Rydze, who joined the physical education faculty in the fall of 1994, is also an assistant professor of physical education and serves as the head coach for the Kohawk women's cross country team as well.
Under Rydze's leadership, the cross country program has continued to improve, with several meet wins and numerous all-Iowa Conference runners. In recent years, Coe has had national qualifiers, all-region runners and Academic All-Americans. Rydze holds Level I and Level II (endurance) certifications from USA Track and Field.
A 1977 graduate of Michigan State University, Rydze was a member of the intercollegiate track team and a team captain. She was the 1976 Big Ten 440-yard hurdle champion and runner-up in 1977, as well as a member of the mile relay championship team. Rydze competed in AIAW Nationals three times, placing fifth as a member of the mile relay in 1977, and AAU Nationals twice.
Prior to joining Coe, Rydze had a successful coaching career at Iowa City Regina High School for nine years, producing two state runner-up teams. She coached state champions in the 100-meter dash and 100-meter hurdles.
Rydze's husband, Bob, is the diving coach at the University of Iowa. They have three children.
